Beautifully shot and anchored by a soulful, bravura performance by Logan Lerman, The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a cathartic cinematic experience and evocative of a generation that feels such complex emotions and yearns for validation.
Teenagers have usually gotten the rap for being superficial, thoughtless and generally angst-ridden. Obviously having been a teenager myself, I can understand how these stereotypes can come about; its because teenagers are not known to be the most communicative of people. So, to all those who have forgotten what it feels like to be a teenager, this movie is a must-watch, because more than just having a wonderful narrative, it shows that teenagers are flawed, confused, loving individuals capable of complex emotions but who do not necessarily have suitable tools to express them.
