Tiong Bahru Bakery, Eng Hoon Street.


A surprisingly popular bakery, tucked away in the corner of central Singapore, Tiong Bahru. Ended up here, as Open Door Policy doesn’t open for brunch on weekdays. What a pity!

Don’t be deceived about the bakery judging from it’s exterior. The display and array of bread and the likes will wow you coz I definitely was.

Squid-Ink-Bun

One of the recommended specialty buns of this bakery, is the 2nd left one from the pic above – Black Pesto Bun (SGD 8.50). It’s served loaded with rocket leaves, salmon and parma ham. The squid ink bread, to be honest didn’t taste fantastic as the squid ink taste wasn’t distinct. It’s worth trying nonetheless, just for the kicks of eating something black. *Jokes*

Croque Monsieur (SGD 9.50) tasted pretty good. The bread was soft and together with the ham and cheese overload, each bite was perfect.

As awesome as the brioche and pastries looked, I didn’t have space left within, after my sandwich and mocha.

Coffee served at TBB is by Forty Hands.

My overall dining experience at TBB was decent. But, given it almost was SGD 20 per pax, I would probably not be paying TBB a 2nd visit anytime soon. Nonetheless, if you’re a bread and pastry lover it’s definitely worth a 1st time.

Also, TBB has opened another outlet at Raffles City so they must be doing pretty well despite their overpriced bread.
